Miller is best recognized by his strip Non Sequitur, which he sign as Wiley. Non Sequitur has been the sole comic strip to have won National Cartoonists Society Divisional Awards in both cartoon strip as well as the comic panels as well. Miller has been the sole cartoonist to have won one NCS Divisional Award in his first year of syndicating.
Non Sequitur is the only comic strip to be awarded its division within the initial year of publication and is the only comic that has won in two divisions, Best Comic Strip for 1992 and Best Newspaper Panel Cartoon for 1995, 1996 , and 1998.

Wiley is a California resident, Wiley studied art at Virginia Commonwealth University and worked for a variety of Hollywood education film production companies prior to moving into North Carolina in 1976 to become an editorial cartoonist as well as a staff art director for Greensboro News & Record. The year 1978 was the time Wiley became a part of The Santa Rosa, California “Press Democrat” as a staff artist as well as editorial cartoonist. Fenton (1982) is his debut syndicated comic. He was a cartoonist in 1985 when he got a job for editorial cartooning for The San Francisco Examiner.
Wiley was named the best editorial cartoonist in the California Newspaper Publishers Association in 1988. She also received the Robert F. It also was awarded its Newspaper Comic Strip Award for 1992.
