On June 17, 2017, the Osuigwe rose to the number. 2 in the rankings for juniors through her dominance of clay-court competitions during the preceding six months. She began by making it to the semifinals of the Orange Bowl in December and later won two Grade-1 clay-court tournaments during the same week in February. Osuigwe concluded her dominant performance during this period of the season when she won her first title in 2017’s Junior French Open over fellow American Claire Liu. By winning she was the first American to take the title in the girls’ competition after Jennifer Capriati in 1989, the fifth American overall champion, and the 9th youngest winner with an age under 15 and two months. It was also the second time that the final was decided by two Americans and two Americans, the first being in 1980.

Osuigwe made her WTA main-draw debut at the 2018 Miami Open, losing to her fellow wild card and junior rival Claire Liu.

On August 12, 2018, Osuigwe won the USTA Girls 18s National Championships which earned her a wild-card entry into the main draw of the US Open.
