Wesley Sonck (born 9 August 1978) is a Belgian former professional footballer and current manager. He played as striker with Molenbeek, Germinal Ekeren, Germinal Beerschot, Genk, Ajax, Borussia Monchengladbach and Club Brugge. He has been recognized by Belgium on a global level. He is the manager of the Belgium national team of under-19 football.

Sonck quit Gladbach at the close of the 2006-07 campaign, moving to Club Brugge on a year-long loan contract as Borussia Monchengladbach started play in the lower division in the Bundesliga. After the 2007-08 season, Sonck joined Brugge permanently at a cost that was not disclosed. After the 2009-10 season Sonck quit Brugge and joined Lierse S.K. as a free agent after following a disagreement from the manager Adrie Koster regarding contract talks and the lack of first-team actions. One of his first goals at the club was a superb overhead kick. Sonck had been released during the summer of 2012, and spent several months without work before joining the newly promoted Waasland-Beveren at the close the month of October. In January 2014, he signed the 1ste Provincial Oost Vlaanderen team KE Appelterre-Eichem, before retiring within three months.

Sonck’s stint with Borussia Monchengladbach of the German Bundesliga was marred due to injuries. Monchengladbach signed him to the basis of a long-term contract, an arrangement that was made at the beginning of the loan. The summer of 2005 saw Sonck suffered three ribs fractured in an horrendous tackle by Wilfred Bouma during a non-goalless game that was essentially meaningless that took place between Borussia Monchengladbach as well as PSV Eindhoven. Sonck required six months to heal, making his return to football competitively by scoring a goal during the 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich. Sonck scored three goals in his remaining 13 Bundesliga matches for Monchengladbach until the club was forced to withdraw him for three months due to an injury to the knee’s hollow in the beginning of the 2006-07 season.
