The mother of her daughter Albis Torres was a poet unpublished. His father was Cuban playwright Raul Guerra who died drunk and begs for alms in the streets. She has a half-brother and the plastic artist Sandro Guerra Garcia.
Guerra released her book Posar desnuda in la Habana (Posing naked within Havana) at the end of 2012 after conducting study through Havana as well as Paris and reading Nin’s unpublished diary entries. In the novel, excerpts from Nin’s diaries have been interspersed with fictional stories.
Later that same year (2014), her novel Posar desnuda en la Habana was published in Cuba, and was presented during the 23rd Havana’s International Book Fair.
In 2014, she and another Cuban writer, William Navarrete, were prevented from speaking at a literary festival in Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia), by the government of Bolivian President Evo Morales which anticipated they would criticize Bolivia’s suppression of free speech.
She was awarded her Carbet des Lyceens prize (Prix Carbet des lyceens) in 2009. The year 2010 was the same. France declared her to be an official Chevalier from the Ordre of Arts and Lettres.

Wendy Guerra (born 11 December 1970) also known as Wendy Guerra Torres Gomez de Cadiz is a Cuban novelist and poet. After a brief stint as an actor in Cuban TV and film She turned her attention to writing and gained recognition more widely outside of Cuba. Her writings have been translated into 13 languages. She is identified as “a kind of diva of contemporary Cuban literature”.
Guerra’s first collection of poetry entitled Platea a oscuras which was published in the year 2000, earned her an award in The University of Havana. She later earned a master’s diploma in radio, film and television at Havana’s Instituto Superior de Arte. She appeared on the first television program for mornings called the Buenos Dias in which she read children’s stories. She was actor on Cuban television and film however she believes her talents are to be limited, but she did find it useful in her studies of character and the interpretation of characters. The credits on her film are Hello Hemingway (1990).
In 2013, she published Negra in Spain, a first person narrative of racial discrimination in post-Revolutionary Cuban society.
