Wayne Junior Robert Thomas (born 17 May 1979) is an English semi- professional retired player and the current coach of football. He currently works for the football academy that is part of West Bromwich Albion in China. As of 2015, Thomas joined to coach the academy with the New York Red Bulls. Thomas was an defender and has played for 12 clubs, including Torquay United, Stoke City, Burnley and Southampton.
Following a brief time as the manager in caretaker Dave Kevan, Tony Pulis became the new manager at Stoke. Thomas was a star under Pulis and, as his contract due to expire at the end of the season of 2005 a number of Championship clubs were seeking to sign him up on free transfers after Thomas stated that he was not happy with Stoke being too slow to extend his contract.
Thomas was one of 13 players to be released by Southampton at the end of the 2009–10 season.
In August 2007, Thomas signed for Southampton in a £1.2 million deal. Accorfing to Cotterill, there had been several lower offers, but “when it hit £1.2million it was a time we decided to sell”. Thomas made his debut in Southampton’s 2–1 defeat away to Norwich City. He scored his first goal for Southampton against Charlton in the Football League Trophy on 11 November 2009; it was his first goal in over four years. He then scored with a 20 yd (18 m) half-volley in a 2–1 FA Cup victory over Ipswich Town.
The race was ultimately won by Cotterill who was in charge of Burnley in the aftermath of Cotterill went to the player’s home in Florida to convince him to join the club. He scored his first goal and which turned out to be sole goals in the game for Burnley in the match against Coventry City on 13 August 2005. His debut season as an Burnley player was a disappointing one as he was struck by two serious injuries that included firstly injuring his knee ligaments following a rapid recovery, he broke the 2nd metatarsal bone. The second injury was the end of the season.

In the 2001-02 campaign, Thomas was instrumental in helping Stoke get promoted through the play-offs by winning victory of 2-0 against Brentford in the Millennium Stadium in the final. Despite this, Thordarson was sacked and was replaced with Steve Cotterill, who in the end was manager for only five months, before he quit amid much controversy to become the assistant director at Sunderland.
Thomas was born in Gloucester and began his professional career as a player for Torquay United. He quickly was a regular player on the team and played more than 100 games for the club. His achievements soon earned him the attention from other clubs, and Stoke City, then in the Second Division, winning the contest for his signature during the spring of 2001 after paying the transfer fee of 200,000 pounds. Soon after, he was a regular player and played 45 times during the 2000-01 season when Stoke fell to Walsall at the Play-Offs.
Thomas was made club captain when the 2006–07 season kicked off. He had a difficult start to the season, being deemed at least partially at fault for some goals conceded and being sent off twice before the end of September, however Cotterill showed faith in him by retaining him as captain on his return from suspension. Although his form improved, he was replaced as captain in February 2007 by recent signing Steven Caldwell.

He joined Worcester City on 28 January 2014. On 18 October 2014 in a match against Harrogate Town Worcester were without a recognised goalkeeper after Jose Veiga suffered an injury, so Thomas played in goal and kept a clean sheet in a 2–0 win.
