In the offseason 2015-16, Suero played in the Dominican Winter League, making two relief appearances with the Tigres del Licey. He pitched 1/3 of an inning and posted an ERA of 5.40 with a strikeout , and no walks.
The Nationals added Suero to their 40-man roster after the 2017 season. His addition protected him in advance of the Rule 5 draft that December. It also placed him in contention for a spot on the Nationals’ major league roster in the 2018 season. He pitched for Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Winter League again during the 2017-2018 offseason, but with less success, with five strikeouts, six walks, and an ERA of 7.56 in 8⁄3 innings of work over nine relief appearances.
He was again invited to major league spring training as a non-roster pitcher before the 2017 season. Returning to Harrisburg as the 2017 season began, Suero had a 1.96 ERA and 10 saves in 23 innings of relief, and he quickly earned a promotion to the Class AAA Syracuse Chiefs of the International League for the first time on June 2, 2017. He collected his first Triple-A save on June 14, 2017, against the Pawtucket Red Sox. The Washington Post described Suero among the bright spots of an 87-loss season for the Chiefs in 2017, as he put up a 1.70 ERA across 36 games with the Chiefs after his promotion. The Nationals awarded Suero as their Minor League Pitcher of the Year. He told a Mid-Atlantic Sports Network reporter that his goal was to work hard over the winter to prove to the organization his readiness to pitch in the major leagues.
Suero got promoted to the Class-A Advanced Potomac Nationals in the Carolina League to begin the 2014 season. He hit 21 batters but walked 10 , and pitched an ERA of 7.57 in 27/3 innings of relief. He was demoted into the Class A Hagerstown Suns in the South Atlantic League He finished the season in Hagerstown, pitching 72 innings with 62 batters struck out while walking just 11 and putting up an ERA of 2.13 in 11 relief appearances, resulting in an average ERA of 3.62 for the entire season with 21 walks and 83 strikeouts. The team was promoted to the Class AA Harrisburg Senators of the Eastern League in the beginning of the 2015 season, he struggled with his strikeouts, only striking out 29 and walking 14, and posting the 6.35 ERA over 34 innings of relief during his first time in the top minor leagues. When he was demoted to Potomac He pitched 56 innings over 5 starts, and made 11 appearances in relief, with 39 strikeouts, 17 walks with the ERA of 2.41 in addition to the ERA for the year in all was 3.90 and a total of 32 walks and 68 strikeouts.

The Washington Nationals signed Suero as an undrafted free agent in May of 2010. Suero pitched for three seasons as a player development player for Washington within the Dominican Republic, pitching for the Dominican Summer League Nationals from 2010 to 2012. He pitched four games and was as a relief pitcher 11 times. He finished this season with score of 2-3 with an earned run average (ERA) that was 4.72 23 walks and 39 strikeouts over 34/3 of an inning.
