Following retiring from football Richardson was a part of the Penn State’s Morgan Academic Support Center for students, initially as an assistant professor in 2001, and later as an academic counselor from 2003 to 2007. Between 2007 and 2011, Richardson served as the director-in-charge for the Rankin Smith Student-Athlete Service Center at the University of Georgia, working with athletes from the volleyball, football, and the equestrian team. Richardson was appointed the associate director for football’s academic assistance in the University of North Carolina before the 2011 football season.

In April 2013 Richardson was appointed Director for the Penn State Football Letterman’s Club An organization that includes more than 1500 ex- Penn State football players and student managers.
