Following her Abitur degree from 1977 at Tutzing, Bavaria, she pursued canonical law until the Doctoral degree in Salzburg. From 1979 until 1992, she was an assistant in the European Parliament. In 1983, she attended the National Journalism Center in Washington, D.C. In addition, she worked in an office for Reader’s Digest in the same city. She was employed by the Ministry of Information of the Sultanate of Oman between 1985 and 1992 In 2004, she became a member on the board of directors of the Arab International Media Forum in London.
