Wahidullah Waissi is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on April 18, 1975 in Kabul, Afghanistan. Wahidullah Waissi is born the 18th of April 1975, in Kabul. He has completed his studies at his native United States and holds MA in Development Economics from Center for Development Economics of Williams College. Waissi was among the very first Afghan students who studied on the CDE. Some of them were from Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan in addition to Georgia.

Waissi has been working on creating their first Regional Cooperation Strategy for the ANDS since 2005. The strategy was the basis for a more extensive regional discussions among the immediate neighbors as well as the countries that are far from Afghanistan. First regional economic cooperation conference with the name RECCA was launched by Kabul on the 5th of May 2005. Further annually RECCA gatherings were held at New Delhi in 2006, Islamabad in 2007 and Istanbul the following year, Dushanbe the following year and returning to Kabul in 2015. Waissi was a key player in the coordination and organization of the two most recent RECCA meetings that took place in Dushanbe in Dushanbe and Kabul.

In June 2006, Waissi has been appointed as the Coordinator and Formulation Manager for the Interim-Afghanistan National Development Strategy (I-ANDS) at the Office of the Senior Economic Advisor to the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Professor Ishaq Nadiri (Former President Hamid Karzai). The I-ANDS was served as the interim Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (I-PRSP) based on the World Bank development modules.

Waissi had also studied Results Based Management at the Shanghai based Asia- Pacific Finance and Development Institute (AFDI) in 2007 under a fellowship granted from Shanghai International Program for Development Evaluation Training (SHIPDET) program.

As a member of Afghanistan’s Aid Coordination Authority (AACA) in 2003, his main focus was the multilateral coordination. He was appointed Aid Coordination Officer in the Ministry of Finance when the AACA was transferred to this ministry. His main areas of responsibility were International Financial Institutions (IFIs) i.e. The World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the European Commission (EC) between the years 2003 and 2004. In the beginning of 2004 Waissi was the manager for the newly created department that focused on the monitoring of portfolios by IFIs.

Wahidullah Waissi (born April 18, 1975) is an Afghan diplomat. He currently serves as an Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Commonwealth of Australia, the New Zealand and Republic of Fiji. He was Director General for Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan from 2012 until 2016. He was responsible for regional economic cooperation as well as multilateral development partnerships. He also chaired an economic diplomatic committee, coordinated Regional Economic Cooperation Conference for Afghanistan project and process, and was a focal Point for the economic confidence building measures (CBMs) of the Heart of Asia Istanbul Process.

In July 2007, the Boards of Executive Directors of the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed that the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan had met the requirements for reaching the decision point under the enhanced Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative. The amount of debt relief determined at the decision point was US$571.4 million in March 20, 2006 net present value (NPV) terms, calculated to reduce the NPV of eligible external debt to 150 percent of exports at March 20, 2006. This relief implied a common reduction factor of 51.0 percent.
