Wade Edward Richey (born May 19 1976) is an ex- American placekicker for the National Football League. The player is widely considered to be being one of the best legs in high school, college and NFL the history of football.
In the 1997 season he was the primary source his placekicking duties being paired with backup player Danny Boyd.
After his collegiate career, Richey went undrafted but signed with the Seattle Seahawks for the 1998 preseason. Richey’s impressive preseason performance with the Seahawks prompted the San Francisco 49ers to claim him off waivers, making him the starter for their season opener.
Richey struggled in LSU and was unable to convert 8 of 23 field goals. He was mostly an off-side specialist at LSU in his sophomore and freshman seasons however he was able to take over the starting spot when he was an junior.
