Vakeaton Quamar “Von” Wafer (born July 21 in 1985) was an American former professional basketball player. He played basketball in college playing for his team, the Florida State Seminoles.
Wafer was released with the Lakers on the 26th of October 2006. He only played in one pre-season game because of the heel of his left foot being bruised. Wafer later played with Colorado 14ers Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League in 2006-2007 and was named player of the month in January of 2007. He was offered an ten-day deal from the Los Angeles Clippers on February 21. He played one minute with no scoring before being released one week later. On April 12 2007 Wafer was signed by the Denver Nuggets signed Wafer for the rest of the season 2006-07.
Wafer joined the Greek Euroleague club Olympiacos Piraeus in August 2009, signing a two-year $10 million gross income contract. He was then waived by Olympiacos in December 2009. Wafer shot 36.4% from the field and averaged 3.0 points per game and 1.3 rebounds per game in the Greek A1 League with Olympiacos. In Euroleague play, he shot 50% from the field and averaged 7.7 points per game, 1.3 rebounds per game, and 1.0 assists per game.
Wafer was signed by the Houston Rockets and managed to keep a spot on the team due to his hot shooting in the preseason. On January 13, 2009, Wafer scored a career-high 23 points on 10-14 shooting in 39 minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers. He found a regular place in the Rockets’ starting lineup due to good performance as well as an injury to regular starter Tracy McGrady. He continued to impress by scoring 21 points versus the Jazz and hitting the game-winning three at a game in Boston that the Rockets won 89–85. In that month he averaged 14.3 points per game. After Wafer moved to a team in Greece, the Rockets offered him a contract midway through the next season. He signed the contract, but failed his physical, so he could not join the Rockets.
Wafer was previously a player with his time in the National Basketball Association (NBA) playing for Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. He was selected 39th overall (ninth selection of first round) in the 2005 NBA draft, which was won by the Lakers. The nickname he has earned was “The Dutch Cookie”.

In his first year during his time at Florida State University in the 2003-2004 season, Wafer was averaging 7.9 points over 17.5 minutes of play with the Seminoles. He was ranked third among ACC freshman with 43 field goals of three points completed and scored in double figures twelve times. As a sophomore in his 2004-05 campaign, he topped players in scoring (12.5 per game) as well as three-point field goals scored (65). He scored more than one shot in fourteen of the games and overtook the 20-point mark six occasions. While working out in members of the Phoenix Suns, Wafer reportedly was dissatisfied with the physical style of play played by Jan Jagla, and responded with an aggressive elbow against Jagla’s nose. and then left the court and stopped the session at the time. Los Angeles Lakers scout Irving Thomas who was a player for in two years at FSU and saw three Seminoles games in the 2004-05 season, and also was able to arrange a workout session for Wafer as part of the Lakers. Lakers General manager Mitch Kupchak saw enough of Wafer’s talent that they chose one of the second-round selections to pick Wafer during the draft.
On February 21, 2008, the Denver Nuggets traded Wafer to the Portland Trail Blazers for Taurean Green. Wafer changed his number from 22 (which he wore with the Nuggets) to 24, as number 22 had been retired by the Trail Blazers to honor Clyde Drexler.
