Vladimir Vladimirovich Graudyn (Russian: Vladimir Vladimirovich Graudyn’ ; born on the 26th of August, 1963) is a Russian former track and field athlete who raced in the 800 meters in the Soviet Union. He won silver in both the IAAF World Indoor Championships and European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1987.
Graudyn took part in his country’s participation in the World Championships in Athletics that year, and also competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics. He was three times a national champion. His personal record for the 800 meters was 1:44.10 minutes.
Graudyn recorded a personal record of 1:44.10 minutes during the Bislett Games in 1988. the time he was in the top ten of the world at that time and third in the field of Europeans and was only beaten by British duo Steve Cram and Sebastian Coe. However, he did not achieve this level of performance during the 1988 Seoul Olympics losing in the quarter-finals. It was to be the final major international event which he competed in. He and his wife Yuliya Graudyn would go on to take home the world as well as European awards for Russia.

In Moscow, Graudyn joined the Spartak Minsk based in the Belarus SSR. The first time he made his debut at the national level during his 1986 Soviet Spartakiad, where he won gold at 1500 meters with a time of 3:44.29 minutes. He also was the 800m champion during the Soviet Indoor Athletics Championships that year, a title was defended in the next year. In his first major international appearance, he made it to the semi-finals of the 1986 European Athletics Championships.
Graudyn experienced the majority of his international success during the season of 1987. In 1987, at the European Athletics Indoor Championships he won gold in 800m in front of Dutchman Rob Druppers in a tactical race. The following month , he competed in the 1987 IAAF World Indoor Championships and was able to repeat that performance, finishing second, but this time losing to Brazilian Jose Luiz Barbosa. The Soviet Union’s only medallist in the men’s race during that competition. He was the top Soviet Union athlete in the 800m in 1987 at the World Championships in Athletics, not qualifying to compete in the finals by three hundredths, and beating Andrey Sudnik.
