Vladas Vitkauskas is one of the most popular and richest Photographer who was born on May 7, 1953 in Viduklė, Kaunas, Lithuania. Vladas Vitkauskas (born on May 7 1953, in Vidukle, Raseiniai district in Lithuania) was one of the first Lithuanian as well as the very first climber of within the Baltic states to scale the world’s highest peak, Mt. Everest (8,848 meters on May 10, 1993).
Vitkauskas is the first president and founder of the Lithuanian Mountaineering Association (1996-1999) as well as the chairperson and founder of the Everest Foundation, head of the Naturavita health center; a participant in the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee, advisor to the panel of magazine “Santara”.
He arranged a cultural research expedition to Chile and the Andes (in 2002, declared the International Ignacy Domeyko Year by UNESCO) in commemoration of the bicentenary anniversary of the birth of Ignacy Domeyko, a distinguished scientist of Lithuanian origin. He ascended the highest peak Donja Ines (5,075 m) in the Cordillera de Domeyko and Ojos del Salado (6,893 m), the highest volcano on the earth. He also organised the first Lithuanian expedition to the Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush mountain ranges in Pakistan. He was a member of the hot air balloon flight for the absolute altitude record (10,064 m, Nov. 27, 2006), the distance and duration records (Mar 3, 2007) in Lithuania.
Between 1993 to the year 1996, Vitkauskas between 1993 and 1996, he climbed between 1993 and 1996 the Seven Summits, the highest mountains on all continents. This includes Mt. Everest (Eurasia), Mt. McKinley (6,194 m, North America), Vinson Massif (4,897 m, Antarctica), Kilimanjaro (5,895 m, Africa), Mt. Kosciusko (2,228 meters, Australia), Aconcagua (6,959 meters, South America); Also Elbrus (5,642 meters, Caucasus) and Mont Blanc (4,807 meters, Alps) in Europe. It was his first person to fly the same national flag on all three which was in his case it was the Lithuanian flag. He planned his own trip to Himalaya and then climbed Mt. Everest by himself, after registering as a photographer for the Nepalese Women Everest Expedition. He also climbed on his own to the summits of Mt. McKinley and Aconcagua.
