1987. He later transferred to the US to further his studies. He earned a Ph.D. in 1991 at Cornell University. The post-doctoral research he completed was conducted at the University of California, Santa Barbara between 1991 and
1988. On the return trip to India in 1993, he was accepted into in the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) as an assistant professor. There, he is currently an instructor of the Department of Chemical Engineering and is the head of V. Kumaran’s Research Group.
