Kapitonova received the ‘Ballet Friends of Zurich Award’ as the most outstanding ballerina of 2014/15 due to her stage presence, technique , and her impact on the stage. In an interview with SRF, Kapitonova pledged to donate the prize of CHF3,000 to her family members in Russia.

At 12 years old, Kapitonova was accepted into her first class at Kazan Ballet School. At the Dzhalilja Opera House in 2005 she performed solo roles as a soloist in Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and Don Quixote, La Bayadere, Coppelia and The Nutcracker. Kapitonova received the award of “Young Ballet of Russia” and also the “Arabesque” competitions. Kapitonova was also invited to participate in training at the Moscow’s Bolshoi Ballet as part of the Bolshoi Ballet’s training program.
In 2008/09, Kapitonova moved to the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre in Moscow prior to accepting an invitation to Heinz Spoerli to dance in Ballett Zurich as a principal dancer. Kapitonova was an invited dancer at the Zagreb Operhouse for two weeks as the lead character of Swan Lake
In 2014 Ballett Zürich director Christian Spuck created a new full-length ballet of Leo Tolstoy “Anna Karenina” for Kapitonova. Which was awarded a Critic’s choice for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Artist’ in Dance Europe Magazine in October 2015. Anna Karenina was also awarded a critic’s award for ‘Best Premiere’.
