Cheuk Yuen Victoria poon (Chinese nickname Pan Zhuo Yuan ) (born on the 12th of October, 1984) is an Canadian swimming champion who is specialized in events that are freestyle. Her birthplace was Hong Kong. She relocated to Canada at the age of aged 11. She is a resident of the LaSalle Borough located in Montreal, Quebec. She is currently the nation’s record holder for the 50m freestyle race for women and has a time of 24.75s.
In April 2008’s Canadian Olympic Trials, Poon reduced her Canadian record for women’s 50m freestyle down to 25.47 seconds that she recorded in 2005. The 2008 Canadian Summer Open Nationals, she placed 3rd in the 50m freestyle women’s event placing in the third place behind Jennifer Carroll (2nd) and Jen Beckberger (1st).
At the 2010 World Swimming Championships, short course, Poon set and then bettered the Canadian national record for women’s 100-metre freestyle. She set a new record on 16 December 2010 of 52.76 seconds in the semi-finals. On December 17, 2010, in the finals, she reset it to 52.51 seconds, and managed to finish fifth. In the 50m freestyle, she lowered her own Canadian record to 29.14s. She ended with a 7th-place ranking.
At the 2010 Canada Cup of Swimming, short course, Poon won gold for the women’s 100-metre freestyle, and 50-metre butterfly. At the time, she was also the Canadian national record holder for those two events.
Poon participated in during the Olympic Games in 2008 Summer Olympics and came in 30th in the 50-meter freestyle for women.
