Vasbert Conniel Drakes (born 5 August 1969 in Springhead, Saint Andrew, Barbados) is an ex- West Indian cricketer, who played in Tests and ODIs. The right arm of his was an extremely fast-bowler as well as a handy right-hand lower-order batsman. He is currently the director of the West Indies women’s cricket team.

Following his career in cricket, Drakes was appointed coach of the United Arab Emirates national cricket team for a 3 month period which comprised the 2008 Asia Cup and 2008 ACC Trophy Elite. After that, he was appointed coach for the Barbados the cricket squad. He also served as the coach for Queen’s Park Cricket Club.

He took part at the 2003 ICC World Cup and finished his career with 33 Test wickets as well as 50 ODI wickets. As a batsman He once scored 67, his only half-century during international cricket. His most significant Test performance however was his unbeaten 27 that assisted his West Indies cricket team to achieve a world record of 418 set by the Australia players in Antigua.

Drakes made his debut for the international team in 1994-95. He played five ODI matches against the Australia cricket team, which was followed by a tour in England. Drakes did not make it back to the team until he reached the age of 33 and in September 2002 Drakes was selected as a member of the West Indies cricket team’ team for the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy.
