Vartan Adjemian is one of the most popular and richest Composer who was born on April 27, 1956 in Yerevan, Armenia. The grandfather of his, Vardan Ajemian (1905-1977) was the General Stage Director of the National Theatre of Armenia and his mother was Arus Asryan (1904-1987) One of the top actresses from the same theater. He was the son of Alexander Adjemian (1925-1987) was a composer, the author of seven symphonies as well as popular songs and chamber works. His daughter is a well-known Armenian pianist.
As of 1987, Adjemian received his National Prize of the Armenian SSR (for this Symphony No. 1). Its music was played throughout Armenia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Georgia, Iceland, Poland, Russia, the UK, Switzerland, and the United States. In 2007 six of his biggest compositions were commissioned through BIM Edition (Switzerland). He is an active part of SUISA since 2008.
Adjemian has been teaching composition classes at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory since 1987. He was made as a professor in 2001. He has been the head of the Composition Department from 2002.

Adjemian was a student of composition under the renowned Armenian composer Lazarus Saryan (son of Martiros Saryan) at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory from 1973 to 1981.
