Ty Long (born April 6 in 1993) is an American professional football player for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). He was most recently a part of 2 seasons for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played for the college team of Birmingham’s University of Alabama at Birmingham and holds records for his career field goals and his longest field goal ever in the history of the school. He has also been a part of the Washington Redskins during the 2015 National Football League (NFL) preseason.

On January 14 on the 14th of January, 2019, Long was signed as a reserve/future agreement to the Los Angeles Chargers. Long was chosen as one of the Chargers starting punter to begin the season. In Week 1 due to an accident to the kicker Michael Badgley, Long took his kicking duties and punting. Long converted his field goal and scored three additional points and punting twice for an 98-yard field within the 20-yard line. Following his NFL debut game in the game against the Indianapolis Colts, Long was named the Week 1 AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. On the fourth week of Week 4 when he played Miami Dolphins in the season opener, Miami Dolphins, Long converted three extra points on 3 field goals during the 30-10 win.

Long had his contract signed by BC Lions on May 24 2017. Long was the primary punter and placekicker following the demotion of veteran kicker SwayzeWaters. Long scored 39 field goals of 44 (88.6 percent) during his first year playing for the Lions. In addition, he averaged 47.9 yards from the 116 punts. After the 2018 season, Long has been named the Lions nominee for the Most Outstanding Player as well as Most Excellent Special Team Player. He was also recognized as an CFL All-Star for the second consecutive season. On January 4 2019, he was let go by the Lions in the hope of pursuing an NFL chance (Long’s contract was due to expire on February 12 2019,).
