Fujii achieved 3rd place in the Porsche GT3R in 2010, 2nd place in 2011 and won the championship in 2012 with 2012 in JAF Grand Prix Fuji Sprint Cup held at Fuji Speedway.

Fujii is a regular participant at Fujii has been a part of the Super Taikyu race along with the Super GT in Japan for several years. He competed in the race in Nissan 350Z from 2006 until 2009, and won the Series Championship in 2007. He took the win as an experimental driver for the Nissan 370Z NISMO RC in 2010. He took home three wins using his Audi R8 LMS in 2011 and was awarded the Series Championship for the GT3 Class. He raced in an Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 from 2012 until 2014. Fujii joined to the All Japan Endurance Championship held in Japan in the year 2006 as well as 2007. Fujii won his Series Championship in the LMP2 class in 2006 as well as with the LMGT1 class, using the Ferrari 550 GT1 in 2007.

Tomonobu Fujii entered the second-hand Racing Kart in 1994 and began his first local races at thirteen years old. He won the championship straight immediately and then continued to show his skills when racing locally. He was able to win numerous wins and won at the Series Championships twice. He made the move to Formula races soon after, however, he was required to stop participating in races due to insufficient funds. Fujii was able to find sponsors during the year of intermission. Fujii was then a participant in Formula 4 in 2002 where Fujii won two races within a year. He also earned Second Series as well as MVP. Fujii was awarded a scholarship, and was a part of Formula Dream by HONDA for two years beginning in 2003. He gained experience and ultimately taking home his first 4th Series Championship in 2004.

Fujii began his career with Super GT, which is the most prestigious class in Japan in 2005. When he began racing using the Nissan 350Z, he reached the podium four times, and he took the 4th place in the 2006 season. He took home his first championship in the inaugural event of Super GT in 2007 and raced for his first Series Championship. He signed an agreement with NISMO as factory driver in 2008. However, he continued to race on the Nissan 350Z in Super GT until the year the year 2008. He finished 5th in 2007 and in 2008. From 2010 until 2013, he was contracted by Hankook Tire as a factory driver, and raced on the Porsche GT3R (RSR) during those four years. He finished 3rd in 2011, and second Series the following year. He has raced with his Audi R8 LMS Ultra since 2014.

Fujii also has experience in overseas races, mainly participating in craft racing in Hong Kong with an Aston Martin Vantage GT3. He has participated in the Asian Lemans, Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race, and the Dubai 24Hrs race. He achieved 3rd place in Dubai 24Hrs in 2013. He has also placed 53rd in the Rolex 24 AT Daytona 2015, driving with Flying Lizard Motorsports.
