In the year 2010, Quebec judge Clement Gascon was able to order Kane to compensate $590,000 to the family of Tammara’s Shaikh. The amount was $125,000 the four children of Kane and Shaikh’s children , and $90,000 was awarded to Tammara’s sister Ava Shaikh, who had obtained full legal rights to the child following Tammara’s murder. In the latter half of 2015 Kane was granted parole by the Canadian Parole Board approved Kane for six months of day-time parole while Kane continued to serve his 18 years sentence.

On the 30th of November 2003 Kane brutally beat, and later stabbed ex-wife, Tammara Shaikh, in the house of his mother at LaSalle, Quebec. Shaikh was 35 years old and died within the arms of a counsellor from the church from Kane’s congregation who taken her to her home with the intent of escorting Kane into a de-stress centre. The couple was recently divorced.
