Tomi Petrescu (born 24 June 1986) is Finnish professional footballer, a player, a winger and attacking midfielder. He is a part of the Finnish Veikkausliiga team Ilves and has also played for the Finland the national team of under-21 football. Petrescu was raised in Jyvaskyla, Finland where he was a part of his local JJK youth team, before being transferred into Leicester City F.C.

In December 2006, Petrescu signed a two-year deal for two years with Tampere United. Petrescu said that his primary motive for signing with Tampere United was coach Ari Hjelm. The 2007 season was a complete breakthrough to Petrescu to the top of Veikkausliiga. He was among the main players to lead Tampere to victories in a row. The 2nd qualifying stage of 2007/2008’s Champions League edition, Petrescu scored a goal that helped Tampere get an important 1:0 win over Bulgarian champions Levski Sofia in their home match. Tampere continued to score goals during the away game becoming the first Finnish team to knock out the Bulgarian club in the prestigious tournament. However Tampere Finns could not get into the groups stages in the Champions League, as they were eliminated by Norwegian club Rosenborg BK in the third qualifying round.

He was loaned to Italian Ascoli for the spring of 2009. In Ascoli he made his first appearance on 7 March in a match against Grosseto.

Petrescu represented seasons 2011-12 FC Honka in the Veikkausliiga. He gained 32 caps and scored two goals.

For season 2005 Petrescu joined Veikkausliiga team Inter Turku. In the first few weeks, he made his mark in the midfield, scoring seven goals in the course of the season. In 2006, he earned the club’s 20th cap and also scored 3 goals.

In 2007, he was selected as the best footballer of Pirkanmaa.
