Tom Kristensen is one of the most popular and richest Racing Automobile Driver who was born on July 7, 1967 in Hobro, North Jutland, Denmark. Tom Kristensen (born 7 July 1967) is a Danish former race driver. Tom holds the world record of most wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with nine wins, six that were in succession (from 2000 until 2005). The year 1997 was the first time he was the winner of the race alongside his Joest Racing team, driving the Tom Walkinshaw Racing-designed and Porsche-powered WSC95 after being an ineligible participant in the team after Davy Jones’ accident that ultimately ruled him out of the race. Every win since then have been achieved by driving an Audi prototype, with the exception of 2003, when he was driving an Bentley prototype. In 1999 and 2007, Kristensen’s team lost comfortably- sized leads in the closing stages during the course. Many consider him to be the best driver ever to race during the 24 Hours of Le Mans which earned him the nickname “Mr Le Mans”. Additionally, Kristensen is also the only driver to have the most wins in Sebring’s 12 Hours of Sebring with an overall record of six.

A one-off non-championship race took place in 2004 on in the city of Shanghai, China.

On 19 November 2014, Kristensen announced at a press conference in Copenhagen that he was retiring from motorsport at the end of the current World Endurance Championship season.

In August 2014, Kristensen was appointed Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog by the Queen of Denmark. In January 2018 he was inducted into the Danish Sports Hall of Fame.

On the 22nd of April, 2007 Kristensen was injured in an accident competing in the Hockenheimring race track at Hockenheim, Germany. The crash caused an extended break from racing for Kristensen which meant that his involvement in 2007’s Le Mans race was in the balance. But, Kristensen returned quickly to health and cleared by Le Mans medical staff to enter the race. The race was reported to have the new collar could have stopped him from being injured by a fractured neck in the accident.

Kristensen was born in Hobro. His professional career started in 1984, and he was the winner of numerous karting titles. He was a racer through Japan in the beginning of 1990, racing simultaneously with Formula 3 and Touring Cars. The driver has been German Formula 3 Champion in 1991, Japanese Formula 3 champion in 1993, and was runner-up for the Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC) in 1992 and 1994. He finished the 6th fastest for Formula 3000 in both 1996 and 1997, as well as a test driver for Tyrrell during the Final Formula One season in 1998 as well as for Michelin when they were preparing their F1 tyres with the older Williams vehicle in the year 2000. He placed third in the STW Cup in Germany in 1999, seventh for the British Touring Car Championship in 2000, and the winner in the 12 Hours of Sebring in both of those seasons.
