Thomas Raymond Grant (born May 28th 1957) was one of the former Major League Baseball player who was a member of the Chicago Cubs in 1983. Grant was mostly employed as an outfielder, but was also utilized as a pinch hitter.
As of 1984, Grant went back to minor league play in 1984, where he played all season long for the Cubs AAA affiliate. He returned to Iowa during 1985. On the 26th of July 1985 it was announced that the Cubs transferred Grant with the Cleveland Indians for Dave Beard Grant, then Grant got assigned to the Indians the Indians’ AAA subsidiary in Maine. Grant left the team after the 1985 season.
Grant was hired with the Chicago Cubs on June 9 1979. He made his MLB debut on the 17th of June 1983, after the Cubs brought him up from Iowa following Leon Durham suffered an injury and was put in the list of disabled players. “He’s earned the opportunity,” Cubs manager Lee Elia said of Grant at the time. Grant was sent into the minors a week after, but was able to return with Cubs Cubs during September. In the late part of September 1983 Grant received his first major league hit. In all, during his stint at the Cubs in 1983, Grant had 20 major league at-bats , and he also scored three hits.
