Tallman Class 1941 Men’s Lightweight Head Coach for Rowing in 1998. In 2001 all three of his teams made it to the finals in the Eastern Sprints Regatta. Kennett has always had success in the smaller boats at his IRA Championship Regatta. His varsity team won the silver medal. After graduating from Cornell in June of 1991, Kennett served as coach of the Ithaca College women’s novice rowing program from 1992 until 1993. He guided the team to 22-2 records and the team won two New York State Small School championships and 2 Murphy Cups. His Bomber teams also took home bronze and silver medals in Dad Vail Regatta. Todd’s mother, Linda Kennett, followed in her son’s path and became an accomplished rower, including winning the Head of the Charles Regatta, a three-mile course in the women’s Grand Masters singles division, for four consecutive years, 1998–2001.
In 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 the varsity boat went to the Henley Royal Regatta and raced in the Temple Challenge Cup, placing second in 2006 and 2007 to Oxford Brookes University and the University of California-Berkeley freshmen. In 2008, they lost to the Stanford freshman heavyweight crew.
At the age of 18 he enrolled as an undergraduate to Cornell University, an Ivy League institution located within Ithaca, NY. In 1991, he graduated from Cornell University’s Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Kennett earned his bachelor’s degree in animal sciences. While at Cornell, Kennett was a star on the Heavyweight crew. He participated in the inaugural freshman eight in his first year. He then proceeded to join the team for three seasons in succession which included the 1991 season where the team finished third in the IRA regatta. They also participated in the Henley Royal Regatta. He was awarded the Butler Award for outstanding leadership and athletic performances as a senior. In his senior and junior time in Cornell, Kennett rowed in the U.S. Rowing Olympic Development and Pre-Elite camps. He also participated in the Olympics in 1989 and 1990 with a bronze medal and a gold medal, respectively.

Todd Kennett (born April 20 1969 Middlebury, Connecticut) is the coach of the Division I Collegiate heavyweight rowing program at Cornell University. Between 2006 and 2008 his team’s boat won two events: the Eastern Sprints Regatta and the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships (“IRA”).
Following his success at Ithaca College, Kennett returned to the other side of the hill in 1994 when he was hired by Cornell University to take over the position of freshman lightweight crew coach. In his second year of coaching lightweights, Kennett lead his freshman to a silver medal finish at the eastern sprints on June 17, 1995. His success continued with his first freshman eight earning bronze at the 1998 Eastern Sprints, while the second freshman boat taking silver. A tribute to Kennett’s all-inclusive coaching style, Cornell’s second freshman eight was undefeated during both the 1996 and 1997 regular seasons. Kennett’s success continued beyond coaching freshman lightweights. Under Kennett, the four-with-coxswain heavyweights finished third at the IRA Championship Regatta in 1994.
