After the removal from Artis Hicks from the team, Herremans landed an opportunity to play right offensive guard the year 2006. The team was his former team, the Baltimore Ravens in the third preseason game,, Hank Fraley received some playing time in the first-team offensive line at left guard in Herremans’s absence. Herremans was a starter throughout the entire 16-game season played by the Eagles as a left guard in addition to two games in the playoffs. He was injured by a lacerated finger while playing against the Indianapolis Colts on November 26 that required five stitches however, he did not take a break from any game. He signed a contract extension of five years in December of 2006 that was worth between $16 million to $17 million. He also received an initial signing bonus of $5 million which was extended until 2013, which is the next NFL season. He was moved to left tackle to take over Thomas in the final game of the season when Head coach Andy Reid decided to rest his offensive linemen, and a playoff berth was already secured. Herremans played on an offensive line that permitted 28 sacks over the entire season, which was the lowest since 1981 for the Eagles.

Against the Seattle Seahawks on November 2, 2008, despite dislocating his finger earlier in the second quarter, Herremans scored his first career touchdown via a tackle eligible play, becoming the first Eagles offensive lineman to catch a touchdown pass since Bob Gonya caught a four-yard touchdown from Dan Barnhardt in 1934. Herremans missed the first five games of the 2009 season due to a stress fracture in his left foot.

Herremans was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list at the beginning of training camp on July 26, 2010. He was activated on August 15. The second touchdown of his career came on the road against the Dallas Cowboys on December 12, 2010; he entered a third-and-goal formation as an eligible receiver and caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick.

Inexpensive to attend the NFL Scouting Combine, Herremans played for over 24 NFL teams prior to the 2005 NFL Draft. It was predicted that he would be selected either in the 5th or 6th rounds by NFLDraftScout.com. Herremans was chosen for the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round (126th overall) of the draft. The Eagles swapped to their Green Bay Packers to choose him, releasing fifth, sixth and seventh-round draft selections (the Packers used these picks to pick the cornerbacks Mike Hawkins and safety Kurt Campbell and the sixth- round pick was sold for by the New England Patriots for sixthand seventh round picks that were used to select the wide receiver Craig Bragg and offensive guard Will Whitticker). Herremans signed a four-year deal for four years with the Eagles on 13 June 2005.
