Tina Gharavi is one of the most popular and richest Film Director who was born on July 1, 1972 in Tehran, Tehran Province, Iran. A show (documentary oral history, documentary and community photography project) on multi-culturalism and that of the community known as Yemeni Muslim (who have been living within the North East since 1890) The the Last of the Dictionary Men. This was a major tour exhibition that debuted with BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in 2008. BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in 2008 and later travelled around the world, including to Yemen.

I Am Nasrine is a feature screenplay, about teenage Iranian refugees in the North East, developed through improvisation with the Kooch Cinema Group and more recently developed with young people as part of the Wiki: Wonderland project. It went into production in June 2009 and was supported by patron Sir Ben Kingsley. The film had a theatrical release in 2013 in Europe. Was screened in the Houses of Parliament in London to a selection of invited MP’s. Nominated for BAFTA in 2013.

Gharavi founded the film company, Bridge + Tunnel Productions which is based at Newcastle upon Tyne, England in 1998. In 2000, she set up her own Kooch Cinema Group, a media training initiative specifically for refugees and asylum seeker participants. The project was initiated after her return to Iran to create the Channel Four commissioned documentary, Mother/Country in which she visited her mother’s home following 23 years. Then, in 2005, Gharavi founded an additional media foundation, Bridge + Tunnel Voices which will carry out the educational and charitable activities that she began, mostly focused on asylum seekers. She left as the creative director in charge in the year 2015. The year 2014 was the time she co-founded Bridge + Tunnel France in Paris along alongside James Richard Baillie, to focus on European co-productions.
