As a redshirt freshman in 2016, Settle played in all 14 games played by Virginia Tech and recorded seventeen defensive tackles (seven in loss) as well as two quarterback hurries, and one blocked kick. Settle was named as a member of the ACC All-Freshman Second-Team.
