From March to date, he’s the director (German Director) of public television channel Second German Television (ZDF).
From 2002 until the year 2012 Bellut was the Program Director of his channel ZDF channel. On the 17th of June, 2011, Bellut was appointed the successor to Markus Schachter as ZDF Director. He has been in the his position since the 14th of March in 2012.
In ZDF, Bellut was a correspondent. ZDF channel Bellut was the editor for The Landerspiegel (lit. Federal State Mirror) TV magazine as well as a ZDF journalist in Berlin. He was then appointed assistant to the director of programs Oswald Ring responsible for shows such as Familienmagazin (Family magazine) as well as Reiselust (Wanderlust). In the following years, he served as editor for special programs and the magazine’s the magazine blickpunkt (focal spot). In 1997, he was the editorial department that was responsible for domestic policy, and also presented programs for election and specials, such as the Politbarometer, ZDF spezial as well as the show What do you think, ..? (What now, ..?)
