Thomas Alsgaard (born 10 January 1972) is a Norwegian former professional cross- country skier. Alsgaard is considered by many as the most skilled skier to master the technique of freestyle (skating) when it comes to cross-country skis. Many of the top skiers of today have learned his techniques. In all, Alsgaard won 15 medals during his participation in the Winter Olympics and FIS Nordic World Ski Championships and FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, making him among the top skiers ever.
The Norwegian Championship in January 2011, Alsgaard took a sensational bronze medal in the classic 15 km race, beating a number of skiers of the Norwegian World Cup team. He was only defeated in the race by Eldar Ronning (gold) and Martin Johnsrud Sundby (silver). The feat was repeated in 2012, and expressed his frustration at the lack of vigor and initiative among the elite athletes in his younger years and the teams that surround them.
Alsgaard was retired from racing in 2003. From 2013 to 2017, he was the manager and owner of a ski teamcalled Team LeasePlan.

Alsgaard achieved his breakthrough in the world of international skiing during at the Lillehammer 1994 Winter Olympics winning the 30 km freestyle race. In all, Alsgaard won 15 medals during his participation in the Winter Olympics and FIS Nordic World Ski Championships and FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, making an elite group of top skiers ever. Alsgaard was able to win at the very least one gold medal in each of the Olympic Games and World Championships which he took part in. On 21 April 2017, Alsgaard announced that Team LeasePlan had to shut down due to sponsorship problems.
