In her first two seasons in UCLA, Munro scored 40 goals and was the top player on the team in her sophomore year having 23 assists. In the 2003-2004 season she was redshirted in order to train in players from the US National team for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. When she returned in 2005 she was named to the first-team American Water Polo Coaches Association All-American as well as on the inaugural All-NCAA Women’s Water Polo Championship team. Munro was the leader of the UCLA Bruins team in field saves with 19 and finished second in steals with 69, and also in the goals category with 53.

Thalia Munro was named the award of 1998 Most Valuable Player at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as part of her fellow members of the National Youth Team. In 1999 Munro got the distinction of Junior Nationals First-Team All-American and Senior Nationals Second-Team All-American. Munro was selected to be a part in the 2002 to 2004 U.S. Senior National Team and was able to help Team USA earn first place in the 2003 Holiday Cup, 2003 Pan American Games and the 2003 FINA World Championships. Munro scored one goal at the Olympics against Italy and also won bronze with the USA team.

Munro’s honors again included first team All-NCAA Tournament Team, once the third-seeded Bruins (29-4) won their second consecutive national title and fourth in the six years that the NCAA has sponsored a tournament. Munro amassed 128 goals in her four-year career as a utility player and was a member of three championship teams – 2003, 2005 and 2006 – finishing sixth among UCLA’s all-time leaders for goals scored.
