Terence Lees (born 30 June 1952) is an English former footballer who played in the Football League for Stoke City, Crewe Alexandra, Port Vale, Birmingham City, Newport County and Scunthorpe United as part of the North American Soccer League for San Jose Earthquakes, and in the Eredivisie for Sparta Rotterdam, Roda JC Kerkrade and DS’79.

Following a brief period with Hong Kong playing for Morning Star, Lees resumed his career in Dutch football, playing for the DS’79. He was first introduced in October 1982 in the left wing in a 5-1 victory away from Heracles in the first season , he helped the club achieve the Eerste Divisie title. The season of 1983-84 was less productive: even although Lees himself was involved in only 29 games out of 34 matches but the club was ranked last in the table and in their final match of the season, they lost 7-2 at the hands of Ajax, Marco van Basten scoring five of the seven goals.

In July 1979, he returned in the Midlands and was signed by Birmingham City. He was found to be far behind Mark Dennis, Colin Todd and Kevan Broadhurst when it came to starting spots, and so only played ten games during the 1979-80 season. However, he nonetheless contributed in the club’s advancement up to First Division. In the following season, he was understudied by the always-present Dave Langan at right back and only played two times. After two seasons at Birmingham which saw him played 19 games across every competition, Lees went on into Newport County, where he played in 25 league games.

Lees was born in Stoke-on-Trent He joined the his local team Stoke City as an apprentice in 1968. He was promoted to the professional ranks in July of 1969. Lees made his debut in the 1969-70 season, however he was not a regular player throughout his six seasons at”the “Potters”. He also played on loan with South African Cape Town City as well as, close to home, with Crewe Alexandra. In 1975, Lees played in 16 matches with his club, the San Jose Earthquakes in the North American Soccer League.

After his return in England, Port Vale paid their local opponents Stoke City PS3,000 for his services in August of 1975. He played 47 matches across all games in”the “Valiants”, which made him one of only a handful of players who played for three clubs in the local area (Stoke, Vale and Crewe). In August 1976 , he was traded to Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam for PS25,000. Lees played in 30 matches in the Eredivisie for Sparta Rotterdam in the Eredivisie Then he spent two seasons at top team Roda JC Kerkrade.

After a trial with Blackpool, he later played for Stafford Rangers and finished his Football League career with Scunthorpe United, whom he joined from Altrincham in September 1984. He then played for Macclesfield Town.
