Terry Fullerton (born 4 January 1953) is an British retired race driver who hails from London, England, who was the winner of the Karting World Championship in 1973. He’s most well-known as his team mate, rival and friend of Ayrton Senna in his karting days.

After he retired as a racing driver back in the year 1984 Fullerton had his own racing team. He also taught promising racing drivers, including: Indycar driver Justin Wilson, Force India driver Paul di Resta and Double Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon and Double 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Allan McNish and former F1 driver Anthony Davidson. He considered McNish along with Davidson as his most successful students.

Fullerton is still active as a manager and driver coach in karting (notably coaching three recent British junior champions – 2010 Jake Dennis, 2011 Callan O’Keeffe & 2013 Jehan Daruvala) and now lives in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire with his wife and Daughter.

Fullerton competed with The Italian DAP manufacturer team between 1978 to 1980 and Teammate Ayrton Senna. After winning the opening final of the 1980 World Championship his engine broke down while he was leading the second race and he was unable to finish third overall just behind Senna who finished second overall. In the was the same season (1980) Fullerton passed Senna during the final race Final to be the winner of the highly coveted Champions Cup race at Jesolo (near Venice) in Italy. They were considered by the team’s Manager Angelo Parilla as the best two drivers around the world.

Terry Fullerton from West London was aspired to race at the top of Formula 1, but the emotional pain of his family after his brother, Alec passed away in a motorbike incident during a race at Mallory Park in 1964, caused him to limit his activities to karting. When he was just 16, Fullerton qualified, but was not selected by his British team to take part at the Karting World Championship in the year 1969. Because he was also able to compete under an Irish licence, he competed in the World Championships in 1969 and 1970, but was unsuccessful. When he was in 1971, he started to race on his British licence and placed 4th at the World Championships that year. He would go on to become the very first Briton to take home the title in 1973.

Fullerton took home The British Junior Karting Championship in 1966 as well as 1967 and 1968 and he has a total of eight British Championship wins in a 20-year career dedicated to only the sport of karting. He also took home the European Championship four times during his time.

At a press conference at the 1993 Australian Grand Prix, when asked which driver he had the most satisfaction racing against, Senna cited Fullerton. The quote was included in the Senna documentary in 2010.
