In 1993-1998, Tengiz was studying sociology and philosophy in Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. One of his professors who is notable is the famous Georgian philosopher Guram Tevzadze. In his thesis for the diploma, TengizIremadze offered a novel interpretation of Nietzsche’s “Thus Spoke Zarathustra”, and thus made a significant contribution to the study of Nietzsche in Georgia. In 2003, he was awarded his PhD in philosophy at Ruhr University Bochum under the guidance of the renowned German philosopher Burkhard Mojsisch (1944-2015). The thesis he wrote for his PhD was: “Conceptions of Thought in Neo-Platonism. The Reception of Proclus` Philosophy in Medieval German and Georgian Thought. Dietrich of Freiberg – Berthold of Moosburg – Ioane Petritsi.” The major merit of his work is considered to be the original philosophical research of theoretical concepts of antique and medieval Neo-Platonism expressed in the development of new intercultural model of typological-systematic interpretation of this heritage. The intercultural model for the study of philosophical history has attracted the attention of a number of notable scholars of the discipline. Since 2007, Tengiz Iremadze is professor of philosophy and social sciences at the Grigol Robakidze University(Tbilisi, Georgia) and director for the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences at the same institution. In 2015, he was appointed Professor of Philosophy at New Georgian University (Poti, Georgia) and is Director of the Archive of Caucasian Philosophy and Theology of the same institution. Tengiz Iremadze is the chief editor and editor of a variety of philosophical journals that are published in Georgia as well as Europe. Since 2014, together alongside German philosophers Udo Reinhold Jeck and Helmut Schneider he publishes scientific series “Philosophy and Social Theory” (Berlin, Publishing House “Logos”).

In his dissertation (2003) Tengiz Iremadze devoted particular attention to the notion that intercultural philosophical thought. In his dissertation, he examined the evolution of the acceptance of one of the fundamental ideas (theory of thinking) of the renowned philosopher from the late antiquity Proclus in the middle ages of the Latin West. The same time, in his study , he also incorporated ancient Georgian texts that refer towards the “Elements of Theology” (Ioane Petritsi’s translation as well as commentary of the important work of Proclus). In this case, the possibility of an intercultural comparison offered particularly interesting perspectives, so it was the case that both lines of growth (Western European as well as Georgian) existed separately and had no connection to one another. They shared something in common: each was inspired by a late antique writer (Proclus). Tengiz was fully aware of that in particular here, in a completely different culture of language it was possible to study the similarities and differences in this intriguing incident of how people received Proclusphilosophy became feasible. Thus, his dissertation covers not only the story of the reception of Proclusthe philosopher. Tengiz Iremadze was a complex scholar who discussed various ways of interpreting Proclus philosophy and set the groundwork for this particular field of intercultural research. This is why his work is more thorough than other studies that are devoted to Ioane Petritsi Dietrich of Freiberg and Berthold of Moosburg.
