Ted Nace grew up in California and North Dakota in his hometown of Dickinson. He was a student at Phillips Academy in Andover and graduated in the school’s first cohort of coeducation at the age of 1974. He was a graduate of Stanford University. While at the graduate program at Berkeley Nace was employed by the Environmental Defense Fund and helped develop computer simulations to analyze alternatives to coal-fired power plants using alternative energy options. Nace was employed by The Dakota Resource Council, a citizen’s group that is affiliated with the Energy Action Coalition concerned about the effects that energy developments have on agricultural and rural communities.
