Edward George Barrett (born July 31st 1965) is an umpire for Major League Baseball. He was hired by the American League in 1994 and has been working in the major leagues ever since. He has been involved in three play-off games, which included 4 World Series.

He has participated in for eleven Division Series (2000, 2001 2002, 2003 2006, 2007 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018 2019, 2019, 2019) as well as Eight Championship Series (2005, 2008 2009 2010 2012 2013 and 2015) as well as the four World Series (2007, 2011 2014, 2017).

Barrett was behind the plate on August 7, 2004 for Greg Maddux’s 300th win.

During a game between the Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants on August 14, 2007, Barrett ejected Atlanta manager Bobby Cox for arguing balls and strikes. The ejection was the 132nd of Cox’s managerial career, breaking the major league record previously held by John McGraw.
