Tanya Byron is one of the most popular and richest Psychologist who was born on April 6, 1967 in United Kingdom. Tanya Byron (born 6 April 1967) is a British psychologist writer, journalist, and media personality. She is best recognized for her role in the role of a child psychotherapist in the TV programs Little Angels and The House of Tiny Tearaways. Also, she co- created with Jennifer Saunders her own BBC Two sitcom The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle alongside Jennifer Saunders, and still contributes stories to newspapers.
The year 2005 was the time that Byron appeared in the 2005 French as well as Saunders’ Christmas Special as herself, and was on the show to resolve Dawn and Jennifer’s inappropriate behavior during the episode. In the following year, she co-wrote the show The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle alongside Jennifer Saunders. Byron is also the co-author of an article on parenting inspired by The Little Angels show and two other books on the development of children and parenting, in addition to writing weekly pieces to The Times and contributing to numerous magazines for women. She also has worked in conjunction with The Home Office on the current modifications of the Homicide Act as it relates to young children and their families and also as a consultant for the National Family and Parenting Institute in advising ministers and the government on related policies.
In September 2007, it was announced that she would head an independent review in England – supported by the Department for Children, Schools, and Families, as well as the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport – into the potentially harmful effects of both the Internet and video games on children. This was published in March 2008 as “Safer Children in a Digital World”, but is commonly called the Byron Review.
In 2008 Tanya presented a four-part series called Am I Normal? exploring the boundaries of acceptable behaviour. The episodes explore the themes of addiction, faith, sex and body image. The programme presents both behaviours and treatments which Dr Byron is able to explore objectively but with some common sense cynicism. Is having sex with 5000 men within the range of normal behaviour? Is being attracted to pre-pubescent girls okay if you don’t act on that attraction in a way that harms or coerces them? Are sex addiction or addiction to computer games real physiological addictions? Is hearing God different to hearing voices? These are the questions that she explores, without yielding to the temptation to give easy answers. This was based on the radio series presented by Vivienne Parry.
In 2005, Tanya started hosting her own show,”The House of Tiny Tearaways, an edgy reality show that takes three families with problems to an enormous, purpose-built home in which it is monitored as well as supported for a period of a week. The show has a lot of similarities to programs similar to Big Brother, in that every room has cameras and families are regularly observed in their activities and the viewers shown highlights of one particular day. Every family is at home for six days, during the time that Tanya is in charge of them all for one day , before engaging in honest and clear discussions with the parents regarding the problems and how they can be addressed as well as guiding the families through a series of actions as well as exercises and deliberate adjustments of behavior on the parents’ part to resolve the issues. Tanya cannot complete the task entirely on her own because one of the pillars of the program is the help parents receive from families at home with them in the same house.
