In 1995 Anisimova as well as her partner artist Alexander Anufriev spent four months at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts on the invitation by the director of the VCCA, William Smart. In the autumn of 1995, Anisimova and Anufriev were able to present their multimedia piece entitled Angels in Mt. San Angelo, The visual portion comprised six canvases measuring with dimensions of 15 by 10 feet in each featuring angels representing the six colors of spectrum, all drawn by Anufriev. The audio component was comprised of an instrumental by Anisimova Song about Mt. San Angelo, which was performed live during the presentation of the project. The following year the project was re-performed with great success at St. Mark’s Church on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.

Tanya was born in her home in the Chechen city Grozny into the scientific family Her father, was Dr. Mikhail Anisimov was an internationally renowned scientist. She was the daughter of a chemist , and a talented pianist and singer, who died in 1981. Tanya began studying cello when she was just seven years old with Zoia Kamisheva. She gave her first performance in public the same year. After graduating with high marks at the Moscow Conservatory (1989), where she was a student of Igor Gavrysh, Anisimova continued her studies in cello under George Neikrug at Boston University (Artist Diploma 1992). While she was in Boston she performed regularly for WGBH Public Radio. The year 1992 was when Anisimova got a call from Aldo Parisot to study for their Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at Yale. She received her degree from Yale School of Music in 1995. In her dissertation, she was focusing on J.S. Bach’s solo cello and solo violin and their interconnection.

Since 2001, Tanya Anisimova and her husband reside in the Blue Ridge Mountains region of Central Virginia. Anisimova divides her time between touring, composing and recording.
