Tam McManus is one of the most popular and richest Scottish footballer who was born on February 28, 1981 in Balornock, Scotland, United Kingdom. Thomas Kelly “Tam” McManus (born 28 February 1981) is a Scottish former footballer.
McManus joined Falkirk in August of 2006 however, after playing a minor part in the early second half of the 2006-07 campaign the club released him from the Bairns. After a few weeks, McManus signed a short-term contract with Dunfermline for the rest this season. He scored two goals over six games. In June the same month, he signed a 2-year contract with East End Park despite interest from at least three other SPL clubs. He played as an extra for the UEFA Cup against BK Hacken of Sweden on the 30th August 2007 . He scored the winner on the 6th of October 2007 in the match against Queen of the South.
McManus trained with Ayr United during December 2009. He then went on trial with Grimsby Town for a week, but left after the trial period ended to go back to Scotland. McManus subsequently signed for Ayr United on a deal that tied him to the club until the end of the 2009–10 season. McManus scored on his debut in a 2–1 defeat against Dundee in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup, but left the club at the end of the season.
McManus signed for League of Ireland club Derry City on 26 March 2009. McManus was signed for a second time by Stephen Kenny, who was previously his manager at Dunfermline Athletic. McManus scored his first competitive goal for Derry City on 16 July 2009, in their Europa League Second Qualifying Round first leg match away to Latvian side Skonto FC in a 1–1 draw. He left Derry City and returned to Scotland as a free agent due to an illegal contract scandal whereby Derry City were found to be paying salaries more than the 65% of turnover stipulated by the League rules.
McManus began his career at Hibernian with over 100 games with his Edinburgh club. While at Hibs, McManus represented the Scotland national team of under- 21s and also the Scotland Future squad. After his departure from Hibs in the beginning of January the year 2005 McManus was a wanderer in his career that included two stints between the US as well as in the Republic of Ireland.

McManus was raised living in Balornock in Balornock and Bishopbriggs in north Glasgow and began his professional career with Hibernian when he made his first appearance against Stranraer in 1999. He made his first appearance at the Edinburgh derby game against Heart of Midlothian a year later. He’d previously had first-team experience through loans in East Fife and then Airdrieonians. McManus was later a regular in the first team of Hibs and enjoyed his most successful season of 2002-03 which saw him score 11 goals and was the top goal scorer at the club.
At the end of August 2004 the new Hibs director Tony Mowbray decided McManus would not make it into Hibs the first team plans and he was subsequently loaned to Boston United. McManus did not find a home in Lincolnshire but he was able to return north to join Dundee at the beginning of January. Dundee were struggling. Dark Blues were struggling in the league and, in spite of Calum McDonald’s strike in the relegation-decider match against Livingston, Dundee were demoted to the Scottish First Division. Following the game, McManus was seen lying on the field in tears. In March 2008, McManus was approached by MLS side Colorado Rapids and offered a trial while the club were playing friendlies in England. McManus played 45 minutes against Ipswich Town in a pre-season game for the American side and was widely expected to sign for the side. After over a week of extensive medicals, McManus eventually signed for the MLS outfit on 28 March 2008. McManus made his Colorado Rapids debut on 12 April 2008, coming on as a half- time substitute in the game against New England Revolution. He scored his first Rapids goal in a 2–1 loss to Chicago Fire on 26 April 2008. McManus won the Week 9 Sierra Mist Goal of the Week honour for his 40-yard strike against Chivas USA on 24 May 2008. He was released by the club after refusing to accept a cut in wages.
