Tal Itzhaki is one of the most popular and richest Scenographer who was born on March 1, 1956 in Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv District, Israel. Tal Itzhaki was born in March 1956 , in Tel Aviv, Israel, to Dr. Yedidya Itzhaki, an architect and professor emeritus Hebrew Literature in Bar-Ilan University and Rina Itzhaki educator in The Kibbutzim College of Education. She is married to an Israeli Professor of Theatre of Haifa’s University of Haifa and translator of poetry and drama Avraham Oz.

Itzhaki also created TV shows, such as “The Ya’acov Shabtai Songs Show,” (1997); “Homage to Kibbutzim,” (1997) as well as other shows.

Alongside co-designer Moshe Sternfeld as well as playwright Hanoch Levin, among others, Itzhaki was one of the pioneers and creators of the very first Fringe Centre in Tel Aviv. She was as the Director of AMBI The Israeli group of stage designers. She also organized numerous stage design shows in Israel and around the world and abroad, including six exhibits featuring Israeli stage design during the Prague Quadrennial (1991-2011)[1] and the groundbreaking and highly well-received and well-loved “Fashion Show”, a huge retrospective exhibit of the historical background of stage and costume design in Israel in the spaces of The Jerusalem Theatre (2008-9). Itzhaki has published research about scenography both in professional and book publications and academic journal, as well as held internationally-renowned conferences about the topic. Itzhaki was also the Israeli delegate to the committees for professionals of OISTAT which is the International Organisation of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians, and was also a participant in IFTR which is the international theatre research association. Itzhaki taught in seminars, workshops and led workshops and was a member of the professional juries in international design competitions. All of ones that took place in Prague, Amsterdam, United States, Antwerp, Lisbon, Ebora, Munich, Jaipur, Seoul, Gothenburg and elsewhere.She was twice jury member during The Acco Festival of Israeli Alternative Theatre in which she, along with many of the theatre actors of her generation, began their professional career.

Tal Itzhaki has been the director of the Academy of Performing Arts, Tel Aviv since its establishment in 2010. She taught at Tel Aviv University Theatre Department, at the WIZO Haifa Academy of Design and Education and served as Senior Lecturer at the Sapir Academic College. She founded the program of theatre design at the Department of Theatre at the University of Haifa which she headed for 9 years (1996-2004). Between 2003 and 2005 she was a visiting artist at Columbia University, New York, where she designed and produced, together with fellow director Amit Gazit, productions such as Hanoch Levin’s Luggage Packers, and co-authored “Neighbors”, an adapted “contamination” collage of Levin’s plays and “Xandra compelled to speak”, a theatrical piece based on Euripides’ Trojan Women and texts by 16 other authors, classical and modern.
