Takashi Kikutani is one of the most popular and richest Japanese rugby union player who was born on February 24, 1980 in Nara, Nara Prefecture, Japan. Takashi Kikutani (Ju Gu Chong , Kikutani Takashi born 24 February 1981 in Nara) is a Japanese union rugby player who is a number 8 flanker with Canon Eagles and previously Toyota Verblitz. He also played for Japan at the international level and is the second-highest try scorer of forwards of all time.
Following a disappointing performance for Japan and the country, his captain position was resigned with Toshiaki Hirose and then pushed out of the team entirely by the new head coach Eddie Jones, but soon returned to his 2012 Pacific Nations Cup, and was able to return as vice captain alongside Hirose and was singled aside in the eyes of Jones to be one of very few Japanese players with the mental and physical strength to to “smash” players. He was sacked from the international stage in 2014.
On the domestic front, Kikutani played most of his career with Toyota Verblitz, and has been twice selected for the Top League team of the season in the years 2009-10 and 2012-13. Kikutani left Verblitz in December 2013, to join Saracens on a contract to train and then returned back to Japan to join The Canon Eagles.

Kikutani first joined Japan’s Japan Sevens squad in the year 1999. He was a part of them in the 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens before making his debut for Japan in November 2005 against Spain in which the player scored a goal. Kikutani was in the side until the end of the year 2006, but was disqualified from his participation in the 2007 Rugby World Cup with a knee injury.
After recovering from an injury After a period of recovery, he was back in the team and was appointed Takuro Miuchi’s position as the captain on November of 2008 under the coach John Kirwan, and led the team to the final in the 2010 Rugby World Cup.
