In 2014, he was the Four Continents champion, 2014 Skate Canada International champion and the 2012 Trophee Eric Bompard champion. Nationally, the 5-time Japan Championships bronze medalist and the 2007 Japan Junior champion.
In the Grand Prix Final, Mura placed at the bottom of the competition in his short program , and third in the free program, finishing with a fifth overall. He was a participant during the 2014-15 Japan Figure Skating Championships, which he placed 5th. When Tatsuki Machida quit the figure skate, Mura was named as his replacement. He was selected to compete for Japan in the 2015 World Figure Skating Championships together with Yuzuru Hanyu, and Takahiko Kozuka. Mura was also chosen for the team representing Japan during the 2014 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships which he won seventh place. In the World Championships, Mura finished in 16th position.
Takahito Mura was born and raised in Matsudo, Chiba, Japan. He was the son of Takashi who competed in international competitions in both pairs and singles as well as his mother, who also skated figure skating. The year 2013 was the time he got married to his partner and was blessed with a daughter named Kanna.

Mura finished fifth at his 2005 World Junior Championships. He was awarded two medals at the Junior Grand Prix circuit in 2006 and was able to qualify to compete in his first Junior Grand Prix Final, in which he was on the podium. He made his international senior debut during the Finlandia Trophy, which he was awarded the trophy.

His next assignment was the 2014 NHK Trophy, where he placed third overall, qualifying for the 2014–15 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, in Barcelona, Spain.
