The father of Kozuka, Tsuguhiko Kozuka competed as a solo skater in the 1968 Olympics and his Mother, Sachiko, competed in the ice dance and his grandfather, Mitsuhiko Kozuka, was prominent in the early days of Japanese skating.
Kozuka was the first skater to compete in his debut in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series during his 2006-07 seasons. He took home Bronze at 2006’s NHK Trophy and placed 6th in the 2006 Trophee Eric Bompard. He finished 6th at the 2006/07 Japanese Championships and 4th in the 2007 Asian Winter Games.
In the 2008–09 season, Kozuka won gold at the 2008 Skate America and silver at the 2008 Trophee Eric Bompard. He qualified for the Grand Prix Final where he won the silver medal. Kozuka won another national silver medal at the 2008–09 Japan Championships. He won the bronze medal at the 2009 Four Continents and placed 6th at the 2009 Worlds.
In the 2009–10 season, Kozuka won the silver medal at the 2009 Cup of Russia earning 215.13 points and placed seventh in the 2009 NHK Trophy scoring 186.00. He won the bronze medal at the Japanese National Championships with 236.13 points, placing second in the short program and third in the free skate, and thus qualified to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympics and at the 2010 World Championships.
The 2005-2006 season saw Kozuka took home in the Junior Grand Prix Final as well as and the Japanese Junior Championships, and the World Junior Championships.

Takahiko Kozuka (Xiao Zhong Chong Yan, Kozuka Takahiko born on 27 February 1989) is a Japanese figure skater. Kozuka is 2011’s World silver medalist and twice a Grand Prix Final medalist, an two-time Four Continents medalist, and the 2010-11 Japanese national champion. He was in addition his year 2006 World Junior champion and the 2005-06 JGP Final champion.
Since both his parents coach, Kozuka stepped onto the skating rink at the age of three and started skating professionally at the age of five. He was motivated by Yuka Sato’s victory during the 1994 World Championships. Nobuo Sato as well as Kumiko Sato were his coaches while they were in elementary school.
In the 2007–08 season, he won the silver medal at the 2007–08 Japan Championships. He placed 8th at the 2008 Four Continents and 8th at the 2008 Worlds.
