Taalam Acey (born on 16th September 1970) is a famous American spoken-word artist from America. Acey began his pursuit of his passion in 1997 when he attended a reading of poetry at an invitation from a friend. At the time when he was in the middle of his career, Acey was a full-time lecturer in senior accounting in Rutgers University and a principal partner in a small consulting company. in 1999, Acey was forced to leave Rutgers University to pursue a full-time career as a performer. Every year, he visits over 50 towns throughout the United States and abroad to expose his ideas and art with an audience that is captivated. The majority of his poems address issues of politics and social justice in a afrocentric way, while the audience he draws is with a range of races. His work also gives an artistic view of relationships, whether it’s man to woman father to son and man-to-man. He is a champion of single parenthood as well as the responsibility of fatherhood.

Acey was among four poets from the US chosen from the US by Essence magazine to be featured at The 2001 Essence Music Festival at New Orleans. Prior the festival, Acey had been chosen to perform with actor Dick Gregory for a live PBS broadcast from the University of Texas at Austin [11. Acey was among five poets from across the United States selected to feature in the New Jersey Performing Arts Centre’s groundbreaking, “Theater of the Spoken Word”. Acey has also taught on poetry in performance for the Berkeley University’s Center for Urban Education.
