After after the Albertville Games, she started medical studies at Universite of Montreal. However, she she paused it to return to her studies in the hope of competing in 1994’s Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. She won an Olympic silver medal.
In the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville the short-track speed skating was officially licensed sport. In the 1992 Winter Olympics, Sylvie won the gold medal in the relay with a distance of 3000-meters but was unable to finish 18th in the 500-metre race following she collided against American skating champion Cathy Turner during the preliminary round.

In 1979, she was the first to compete. she competed and won long-track events in the Canada Winter Games that year winning gold in the 1000-metre, 500-metre and 1500-metre races. In the following year, at Lake Placid at the 1980 Winter Olympics, Sylvie Daigle was 19th in the 500-metre event.
At Sarajevo in the 1984 Winter Olympics, she was 20th in the 500-metre, 25th in the 1000-metre and 22nd in the 1500-metre. Two surgeries in the year 1985 and 1987 both aimed to ease the knee pain, resulted in her changing her career. In 1987, she made the decision to focus on speed skating on short tracks (having been crowned in the Overall Short-track World Championships in 1979 and 1983) it was launched the following year as a competition sport during in 1988’s Winter Olympics held in Calgary. In Calgary, Sylvie took home a gold medal in the 1500-metre event, silver in the 1000-metre and 3000-metreraces, as well as bronze medals in both the 3000-metre and 500-metre relay. Daigle won her second Overall World Championship after 5-year absence in 1988. She won the title again in 1989, and in 1990 becoming the first individual to win five Overall World Titles, which included 3 consecutive World Titles. (Two competitors have equaled the number of World Championships she has won since.)
Daigle left the world of skating following the Lillehammer Games in order to finish her studies, obtaining a medical degree from the Université de Montréal in 1998.
