McInnis did not make it back to his team the Hearts until 2003. He was throwing stones to lead in support of Suzanne Gaudet (now Birt) who was just having won the previous two Canadian Junior championships. The team ended the round robin competition in the top spot, with a record of 10-1. But they stumbled under the pressure of the playoffs, falling to the champion Colleen Jones’s rink in the 1 against. two game and in the semi-finals to Labrador’s Newfoundland Cathy Cunningham in the semi-final. In both matches, McInnis led all curlers with 94% shooting. McInnis received a promotion to third place the following season, before returning with his former team, the Scotties at the end of 2004. The team was a disappointment with a mediocre record, only winning two games. In the year 2006 with a better 4-7 record.

McInnis returned to 1996, as skip. She she coached her PEI rink, which was comprised of Kathy O’Rourke, Tricia MacGregor (Affleck) and Leslie Allan (MacDougall), to a record of 6-5. McInnis later joined the Tammi Lowther rink in the third place, and participated at the 1998 Scott Tournament of Hearts, ending up with a 4-7 mark.
