Sumanth is one of the most popular and richest Actor who was born on February 9, 1975 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Sumanth is born in Hyderabad, India, on 9 February 1975. Sumanth is the sole one son of Surendra Yarlagadda and late Satyavathi Akkineni who was the eldest child of the legendary Telugu movie actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Within a short time after Sumanth’s birth, his parents brought their family back to US in which they had been living. Sumanth however , remained in India as per the wishes by his great-grandfather Akkineni Nageswara Rao who was at the time on a break from filmmaking following an extensive heart operation. He had frequently stated that his acting schedule kept him from experiencing the fatherhood of his children, and he wanted to be the first grandparent by himself. Therefore, Sumanth became the adopted child of his grandparents.

The father of Sumanth is Surendra Yarlagadda is a retired film producer who was responsible for a number of popular films, including Shiva Rao Gari Illu, Gaayam, Muchattaga Mugguru and Collector Gari Abbayi. Sumanth has a sibling, Supriya Yarlagadda, who is the executive director of Annapurna Studios. The renowned actor Nagarjuna Akkineni is his maternal uncle. The Late film director D. Ramanaidu is his uncle from his paternal side. Additionally actor Venkatesh Daggubati, Rana Daggubati, Naga Chaitanya, Akhil Akkineni and Sushanth are his cousins, as is the renowned filmmaker Daggubati Suresh Babu. The year was 2004 and Sumanth was married to former actor Keerthi Reddy. They divorced on a peaceful basis in 2006.

After the flop Dhana 51, and the average running Mahanandi alongside Anushka Shetty, Sumanth shifted paths in 2006, starring in Sekhar Kammula’s romantic comedy/drama Godavari. It remains one of the most acclaimed films in his career. In addition to receiving rave reviews and box office success, it went on to win multiple Nandi and Filmfare awards. Godavari was responsible in giving Sumanth an urban and NRI following, and is widely considered a modern- day classic.

In 2010, after a gap of almost a year, Sumanth took a rather experimental turn by starring in Golconda High School, directed by the national award-winning Indraganti Mohan Krishna. It was based on the English novel The Men Within, written by ex-cricketer Harimohan Paruvu, and it is regarded to be one of the first sports dramas in Telugu. Released on 15 January 2011, it garnered excellent critical acclaim and was declared a commercial hit as well. The critics as well as audience termed Sumanth’s portrayal of a cricket coach with a chequered past to be one of his finest roles.

In 2003, following an unintentionally imposed break for almost two years, the actor starred in his debut blockbuster Satyam. It was also Genelia D’Souza’s first Telugu film. Satyam produced through his father Akkineni Nagarjuna, was among of the top-grossing films in 2003 and 2004. Sumanth disclosed that he had been actively involved in the film’s production and contributed creatively to the film in addition to his acting.

Sumanth was a student at Sumanth attended the Hyderabad Public School, graduating in 1991. In his undergraduate studies, Sumanth took an engineering course at Michigan. Recognizing after two years that it was not the best choice for him and he decided to transfer into Columbia College Chicago, from where he earned an B.A with a major in Film Studies in 1997. He was chosen to the Dean’s list during the final two semesters for his outstanding academic achievements. He claimed that it was in film school that the student truly thrived and enjoyed in his studies.

Sumanth began his acting career by playing the role of Ram Gopal Varma’s Prema Katha, which released on April 15th 1999. Although it had a moderate commercial results, Sumanth’s performance highly praised and the film was praised by critics and won numerous Nandi Awards. His subsequent film, Yuvakudu, directed by Karunakaran and co-starring debutante Bhumika Chawla, did positive business at the box-office and was also praised by critics. The 3rd film Pelli Sambandham provided him with the chance to play alongside his great-grandfather Akkineni Nageswara RAO, and it was written by K. Raghavendra Rao. The film, however, did just average sales in the theater. This was also the case for Snehamante Idera in which the actor was cast with Uncle Nagarjuna Akkineni.

Sumanth’s next film was the average running action/family drama Chinnodu (2006). In 2007, he starred in two movies: Madhumasam and Classmates. The former, a romantic comedy/drama alongside Sneha, produced by D. Ramanaidu, and directed by Chandra Siddhartha, was a hit, whereas the latter did not fare too well, despite good reviews. In early 2008, Sumanth’s home production, the action/drama Pourudu alongside Kajal Aggarwal turned out to be a moderate success. It was especially appreciated for its action sequences. However, his next film, the action/romance Boni alongside Kriti Kharbanda released in mid 2009, and failed at the box office.
