Sue Holloway is one of the most popular and richest Kayaker who was born on May 19, 1955 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Susan “Sue” Holloway (born May 19th 1955) is an Canadian former cross-country skier as well as a sprint canoeist. The year 1976 was the year that Holloway was the very first female and the first Canadian to participate in both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in the same year. She competed in cross-country skiing during the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck and canoe sprints during the summer games held in Montreal.

Holloway was awarded two medals for her canoe sprints during the 1984 Summer Olympics at Los Angeles with a silver in the K-2500 meters and a bronze medal for the K-4500 m races.

In 2002, Holloway married Canadian Olympic high jumper Greg Joy. They have two daughters.

Holloway was chosen as Canada’s flag-bearer for opening Ceremonies during the 1980 Summer Olympics at Moscow. However, Canada’s refusal to participate in the games prevented her from having the chance to take part in the Parade of Nations.

Susan Holloway was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her family relocated to Ottawa when she was three. Then she graduated at Brookfield High School in 1973. She went on to Simon Fraser University in Vancouver where she was a member of their swimming team. She obtained a physical education degree in 1983.

Holloway was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1986. In 1988, the Sue Holloway Fitness Park was built at Mooney’s Bay Park in Ottawa. The park was demolished in 2018 and relocated in 2019.
