Steven Whitney (born February 18 1991) is an American professional ice hockey player. He is currently playing for Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League (AHL). He was previously a player with the Norfolk Admirals during their tenure in the AHL.
On the 5th of October, 2018, Whitney was announced to have signed the AHL deal with their AHL affiliate the Hershey Bears, making the team’s opening night roster for 2018-19 season.
The 14th of August, 2015 Whitney came back on the Norfolk Admirals, now placed in the ECHL after signing the one-year contract as an unrestricted free agent. After two seasons playing in the ECHL with the Admirals, Whitney left as free agent and signed alongside fellow rivals in the South Carolina Stingrays on August 28th on the 28th of August, 2017.

Whitney played for the college team The Boston College Eagles in the NCAA Men’s Division I Hockey East conference. In his final year of college Whitney’s impressive play was recognized by a selection on the 2012-13 All- Hockey East First Team. On April 4 2013 Whitney was signed as a non-drafted free agent and signed to the entry level of a two-year contract to the Anaheim Ducks.
Following his first full professional season Anaheim AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals in the 2013-14 season, Whitney sought a release from his contract. On the 21st of October, 2014 Whitney was put on unconditional waivers , confirming ending his time to the Ducks. He was signed by Florida Everblades on February 12, 2015. Florida Everblades on Feb. 12 in 2015.
