Steven Palazzo is one of the most popular and richest U.S. Representative who was born on February 21, 1970 in Gulfport, Mississippi, United States. Palazzo was a candidate in Palazzo’s Republican primary in the Mississippi 4th congressional district. He was elected at 57% votes. Palazzo was up against the 10-term Democratic incumbent Gene Taylor in the general race.

In April of 2006 the the incumbent Republican State Rep. Leonard Bentz of Mississippi’s 116th House District resigned after his appointment as a member of the Mississippi Public Service Commission. Palazzo beat Democratic candidates Maryann Graczyk, an education lobbyist, as well as Republican George Emile, a funeral home director 51%-26%-24 percent. In 2007, he was unopposed, he won election to a full-time term.

He defeated 10-term Democratic incumbent Gene Taylor with 52% to 47% of the vote in the 2010 mid-term election. Previously, he served in the Mississippi House of Representatives, having represented District 116 from 2006 to 2011. Palazzo again narrowly defeated Taylor in the June 2014 Republican primary election. Taylor switched parties in a bid to return to his former House seat.

In the Republican primary, he defeated two challengers with 74% of the vote. In the November election, he defeated Democratic candidate Matthew Moore 64%–29%.

Even though the 4th district was to be a largely Republican on a federal scale, Taylor retained the post without any major issues until 1996. His record of voting was quite conservative even according to Mississippi Democratic standards and he’d frequently broken with his own party. Palazzo has established himself as Taylor’s most powerful opponent since. Particularly, he criticized Taylor for her support of Nancy Pelosi for House Speaker in 2006 and 2008. Taylor was also recognized as a supporter from Sarah Palin and in the November general election of 2010, Palazzo defeated Taylor 52%-47 52%-47.
